7:30am Student admission & breakfast 
8:00am Instruction begins
8:05am Tardy
3:20pm Dismissal - ECSE/PreK
3:25pm Dismissal - Kinder, 1st & 2nd Grade
3:30pm Dismissal - 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade
Student attendance notes may be submitted in person or emailed to GHAttendance@dallasisd.org.  
ALL excuse notes must contain the following information.
  • Student's name
  • DOB or Student ID
  • Reason for absence
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Parent/Guardian Name
  • Parent contact number or email

Documentation must be submitted within 3 days of a student's return to school in person or directly to GHAttendance@dallasisd.org. Please do not send multiple emails regarding the same request, as this will slow our response time. THIS EMAIL IS STRICTLY FOR ATTENDANCE PURPOSES, for questions or other requests  please contact the main campus number 972-749-7400 or email Ms. Carbajal at MCarbajal@dallasisd.org.

ATTENDANCE: Allow 8-10 business days for a system updated. Excuse notes must include Student Name, Student Date of Birth/Student ID Number, Grade, Date of Absence(s), and justifiable Reason for Absence. Do not submit duplicate excuse notes as this will day the process.

Types of absences include: child illness or injury, Family Emergency with explanation, Death of a Family Member with documentation, Doctor/Dental appointment scheduled during the school day (healthcare note provided), Holy/Religious Day name of day observed, Court Appearances with documentation, Citizenship/Immigration appointment with documentation. Ensure that these official documents also contain the required student information as well as the date(s) of absence(s). 

Excessive Unexcused absences and excessive Excused absences will alert the district's Attendance for Credit Department for loss of instruction time and may result in school year Retention and or for a Transfer to be revoked.

A student has been absent and returns with a note from the parent/guardian.

Unexcused Absence

A student has been absent and does not provide a signed note from the parent/guardian.

T

Tardy

Students arrive in the classroom after the tardy bell has finished ringing.

T99

Excessive Tardy

(Elementary only)

For truancy purposes, any time a student has a partial day unexcused absence of 20 or more minutes in duration. For example, if they arrive excessively tardy or if they are picked up early without good cause.

H

Visited Health Care Provider

A student is temporarily absent due to a documented appointment with a healthcare professional. The student must attend some part of the day of absence and provide a document such as a note from the health care professional.

J

Court

A student misses school for the purpose of attending a required court appearance. Travel shall be limited to one day for travel to and one day for travel from the site. Acceptable forms of documentation include a copy of a pleading or other document filed with the court, a notice from the court clerk regarding a hearing or trial date, a jury summons, a subpoena, to participate in an activity ordered by a court under the Texas Family Code, Chapter 262 or Chapter 263, provided that scheduling the participation outside of school hours is not practicable.

R

Holy Day

Student misses school for the purpose of observing religious holy days, including traveling for that purpose. Travel shall be limited to one day for travel to and one day for travel from the site.

N

Citizenship Application/Ceremony

Student misses for the purpose of appearing at a governmental office to complete required paperwork in connection with the student’s application for United States citizenship OR taking part in the student’s own United States naturalization oath ceremony, including travel for that purpose. Travel shall be limited to not more than one day for travel to and one day for travel from the site.
